AdTxt: How It Works

AdTxt combines the best of two very important ingredients for a technology product: simplicity, and power. An AdTxt campaign can be up and running in just a few moments, yet it can handle the volume that any major national campaign can throw at it.
Step One: Registration
You will first need to establish a free account with AdTxt. This free account will allow you to develop instant text message campaigns whenever you want. To create this account, click on the "New Account" button on the website menu. The account form will ask you for the basic information, such as your name and address, and it will ask you for an email address. You will need to verify your email address, so please use a valid and regularly used email account. We will email you a connection / verification link to your email address that will allow you to complete your account registration.
Step Two: Create your campaign
Once you have successfully registered, you will then be able to create campaigns. Each campaign account is charged on a monthly basis in advance. You will be required to enter a credit or debit card for each campaign account, which will be billed separately each month.
When you create an individual campaign account, you will have a form with a number of clearly marked areas that you must complete. The basic business information from your registration will automatically pre-fill much of this form. You will be asked to complete the following:
1. Create a campaign keyword: A campaign keyword allows you to create a personalized word that your customers will connect with through a text message.
Example: You choose Family as a keyword. Your customers will then connect to your campaign by sending a message to short code number 368638 and entering the message adtxt Family.
When you select a keyword for any campaign, it will automatically be verified to make sure it is not already in use by you or any other customer. You will immediately be informed if the keyword you requested is not available, allowing you to choose another.
2. Text Message Responses: This will be the area you enter the appropriate information as responses to the text inquiries of your customers. This information will be entered in our easy to use text message response boxes in which you control the content. Our system automatically calculates the number of characters in your response helping you to economize on the number of text messages being sent out.
You can set up additional campaigns allowing you to react quickly to changes in the market, introduce new products, test and compare different markets, and gauge consumer interest levels. If you're ready to get started, click on the New Account link to create your account and get your first campaign started! You'll be ready to go in less than five minutes!

Create A New Account
To begin, click on the "Create A New Account" link on the menu. You will get this simple form to fill out. The email address must be valid, because we will send your registration confirmation link to that address.

Request To Validate Your Email Address
When you receive this message, turn to your email program and watch for an email the administrator. It has a link in it that you will use to verify your email address for this account.

In the email address will be a long verification string. Either click the link, or copy and paste it into your browser and hit enter.

Email Validated Successfully!
You will be returned to a web browser and, if all goes well, you will receive the validation message telling you that your user name has been validated and you can begin creating accounts.

We will also send a second email validation message to you upon successful completion of the above step. If you ever receive this message without actually doing the activation step, please contact us immediately to make sure it is a valid message. We take great care to prevent hacking, and this is one way we help to combat that problem - through awareness.

Ready To Log In
Now you may log in! Use the sign in form to enter your email address and password, and click the Sign in button.

Note that if you ever lose your password or forget your username, there is a "Forgot..." link right under the sign on form that will help you find that information again.

Initial Campaign Manager
This is the Campaign Manager. The red area at the bottom shows you all campaigns that you have run that are no longer active. The yellow area contains all of your active campaigns; more on this later. The green area is where you can add a new campaign. Simply enter a campaign keyword, choose a plan from the drop-down list, and click the Begin button.

Popup: Moving To PayPal®
You will first receive a popup letting you know that you are going to be re-directed to PayPal® in order to pay for this campaign. Campaigns are paid for monthly, and you will be entering into a monthly subscription for this campaign. You can cancel at any time either through the Campaign Manager or through PayPal®.

PayPal® Sign In or Pay By Card
If you have a PayPal® account, simply sign on and use your PayPal® funds to make the payment. If you don't have an account, you can create one right here. If you don't want to create an account and you do not have an account, you can simply click the lower radio button and you will receive a credit / debit card form and can set up your campaign payment that way.

Review Your Payment and Approve It
Once you have made the decision on how you are going to pay for the campaign, a final approval screen is presented to you. Click on Pay to move forward with obtaining your account.

PayPal® Payment Made Successfully
PayPal® will give you a five-second display of a page informing you that your payment was made successfully. If you provided them with an email address or have one on your PayPal® account, you will also get an email from PayPal® as a receipt for your payment.
In five seconds (or sooner if you click the link they provide) you will be returned to the Campaign Manager where you may edit your new campaign.

Campaign Setup - Four Powerfully Simple Boxes
Four simple yet powerful boxes! The first box is simply a short message-line that will appear at the top of the text your customers receive. Use it to identify yourself. The rest of the boxes have a description by each one telling you what it is for and what type of information to provide.

We simply updated the boxes to reflect what we wanted our customers to see. Click update to save your changes, and you're done!

Return To Campaign Manager. All Done!
Back at the Campaign Manager, you see that the yellow area now has your new account. You can click on the name of the account to return to the edit screen and change the content in the four boxes, or you can view reports, generate point-of-sale materials, or review your account details.
